The History of MobileMarketingEngine.com
Greg was previously the Head of Mobile for Cabela’s, a large retailer in the US and Canada and was responsible for their mobile strategy and product development. He launched their mobile website and mobile loyalty programs that continue to grow and drive sales to this day.
Since Greg began in mobile back in 2005, he created and managed mobile programs for The New York Jets, Florida Marlins, AT&T, Axe, Elements Massage, 300+ shopping centers across the country and many other small business.
Greg is a guest contributor on sites such as Mobile Marketer, Mobile Marketing Watch, Social Media Examiner, Copyblogger, Target Marketing Magazine and more. He frequently speaks at conferences such as Social Media Marketing World, ICON and New Media Expo.
His podcast has been featured in iTunes and is one of the top podcasts on mobile marketing with over 150 episodes.
Greg came to know the team at MOBIT in late 2014 and this relationship grew to a point where Greg was providing a whole range of mobile consulting programs for his many clients utilizing the MOBIT platform. Eventually Greg’s passion for blog writing and sharing the vision of MobileMarketingEngine took a back seat to his day-to-day business and it was then that he made a simple suggestion to Sean, the CEO and Co founder of MOBIT. “Why don’t you continue the journey and share your mobile vision with the world via MobileMarketingEngine? The rest as they say is history.
Today, MobileMarketingEngine.com is the vocal and visual voice of MOBIT. We are of course passionate about our platform as you would expect but our mission is similar to that which Greg started all those years ago. Sean was the vision behind MOBIT. From an embryonic idea that was borne from years of frustration dealing with the declining ROI of email marketing programs served to clients from his global consulting company, Sean knew there had to be a better more simpler way by which marketers could reach their audience outside of the email world.
Working with many of the leading marketing automation platforms with clients around the world, Sean knew that any solution needed automation at the core. It also had to be ubiquitous like email but unconstrained and without the plaque of problems that have send ROI metrics of email into the single digits in recent years.
The obvious choice was SMS, but as a perceived legacy platform, labored with limitations such as 160 characters, no intelligence, automation and without the rich content as served by email. “In today’s world where we are served by such beautiful mobile devices and the rich content they can display, why is SMS still relevant?” – said Sean. That is when the penny dropped.
MOBIT would utilize the global ubiquitous SMS network, but instead of serving simple black and white text, MOBIT would serve rich content direct to the smartphone via Intelligent mobile pages that would enable marketers to display both rich content but also capture detailed contact information as leads via integrated mobile forms. MOBIT would be supported by advanced automation that would enabled marketers to create long term nurture campaigns. MOBIT would also integrate to email and marketing automation platforms to have marketers extract value from these systems.
